CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The Chongqing Payeasy Card/Mobile Transport Card, featuring the “China T-union” logo, now supports Hong Kong’s Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system, according to Chongqing Payeasy Card Co., Ltd. on March 31.

Starting from March 22, MTR officially began accepting national unified transport cards (China T-union cards) for travel, meaning that with just a Payeasy Card/Mobile Transport Card marked with the “China T-union” logo, travelers can easily board the MTR and explore Hong Kong without worrying about currency exchange or purchasing separate tickets.

How to use your Chongqing Payeasy Card on the MTR? Here’s a step-by-step guide:

How to Recharge:

You can top up your Payeasy Card via the “Yutongxing” app or by physically recharging your card at designated locations.

Balance Requirement:

The MTR’s single-trip fare can exceed CNY 50, so to board, your card must have a minimum balance of CNY 50. If your balance is lower, you will not be able to pass through the turnstiles. Make sure to top up your card before your trip.

》》》Fares and Payment Method

Fare Standard:

The fare for using your Payeasy Card (including mobile transport cards) is the same as the adult Octopus Card fare. The fare will be deducted from your card’s CNY balance, and the amount will be converted into HKD through the card reader at the MTR gate.

Exit Display:

When you exit, the MTR gate screen will show the fare in HKD. It will not display the CNY deduction or balance, so it’s advisable to familiarize yourself with the exchange rate to check the fare correctly.

》》》Where Can You Use Your Payeasy Card?

Applicable Lines:

You can use the Payeasy Card (including mobile transport cards) on several MTR lines, including Kwun Tong Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Island Line, South Island Line, Tseung Kwan O Line, Tung Chung Line, Disneyland Resort Line, East Rail Line (first-class compartments are not included), and Tuen Ma Line. These lines and their designated gates will accept your Payeasy Card for entry and exit.

The Payeasy Card cannot be used on the Airport Express, Light Rail, MTR buses, or first-class compartments of the East Rail Line. For these services, you will need to purchase a separate ticket or use an Octopus card.

Line Transfers:

At stations like Tsim Sha Tsui or East Tsim Sha Tsui, transfers are treated as two separate journeys, and fares will be charged accordingly.

》》》Handling Exceptions

If you cannot exit due to insufficient balance or other issues, please visit the MTR service counter for assistance. This will help ensure the smooth continuation of your travel.

》》》Handy Tips for Travelers

Plan Your Route:

It’s recommended to check the MTR official website or app before your trip to understand routes, fares, and transfer information.

Monitor Your Card Balance:

After each ride, it’s a good idea to keep track of your balance to avoid any disruptions in your travel due to insufficient funds.
