CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On February 8, the Chongqingdong Railway Station project officially entered the static acceptance phase, marking a key milestone as construction moves into its final sprint toward completion.

Located in the Chayuan area of Nan’an District, Chongqingdong Railway Station spans approximately 1.23 million square meters. With a station layout of 15 platforms and 29 tracks, it serves as a vital intersection for five major high-speed railway corridors in China’s national “Eight Vertical & Eight Horizontal High-Speed Railway Network”: Beijing-Kunming, Baotou-Yinchuan-Haikou, Lanzhou-Xining-Guangzhou, the Yangtze Riverside Corridor, and Chongqing-Xiamen. The station is also a pilot project for the country’s “station-city integration development” initiative.

Currently, over 95% of the station’s main building and interior decoration work is complete, with key structural elements such as the roof, exterior curtain walls, and tree-shaped columns both inside and out, all finished. In addition, supporting infrastructure projects, such as the comprehensive transportation interchange center, subway tunnels, and municipal bridges, are also advancing, with some sections already completed.

Once operational, Chongqingdong Railway Station will be connected to several high-speed rail lines, including the Chongqing-Xiamen, Chongqing-Wanzhou, Chongqing-Guiyang, and Chongqing-Kunming routes, as well as urban rail transit lines, becoming a massive, multi-functional hub integrating high-speed railway, rail transit, bus, and commercial services. The station’s completion will provide a seamless “high-speed rail circle” for the region, offering 1-hour access to Chengdu and Guiyang, 3-hour trips to Wuhan and Kunming, and 6-hour connections to Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. The hub will also strengthen the economic integration of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, promoting the implementation of the Yangtze River Economic Belt strategy.

The static acceptance phase will focus on inspecting the quality of key facilities, such as the building structure, electrical systems, and communications infrastructure. Following this, dynamic acceptance, system commissioning, and trial operations will take place. According to the project timeline, Chongqingdong Railway Station is scheduled to open in 2025, alongside the opening of the Chongqingdong to Qianjiang section of the Chongqing-Xiamen high-speed railway, further enhancing the city’s “米”-shaped high-speed rail network, providing a new boost to the high-quality development of western China.
