CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On February 5, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport announced that on February 4 (the seventh day of the 2025 Chinese New Year), the airport handled a total of 1,027 flights, with passenger traffic reaching a record-breaking 168,000—marking the highest single-day passenger volume in the airport's history.
The 2025 Spring Festival holiday was lasting for 8 days, and passenger demand remained strong. From January 28 (Chinese New Year’s Eve) to February 4 (the seventh day of the Chinese New Year), the airport completed 7,857 flight trips, handling 1.252 million passengers, with an impressive average outbound seat occupancy rate of 90.2%. Between February 1 and 4, passenger traffic exceeded 160,000 on four consecutive days, with daily figures of 163,000, 163,000, 166,000, and 168,000, respectively. On February 5 (the eighth day of the Chinese New Year), the airport is expected to see continued high passenger flow, with traffic likely approaching 170,000.
To accommodate the surge in travel, the airport increased its capacity, with an average of 110 wide-body flights per day during the holiday period. Popular domestic destinations included Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Beijing, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Haikou, Nanjing, and Sanya, while international (regional) flights were focused on destinations like Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, and Seoul.
