C919 is the first passenger jetliner that was self-developed in accordance with the international accepted airworthiness standards and has full independent intellectual property right. It has larger “eyes” than that of the aircrafts of the same type, and 4 windshields instead of original 6, providing a wider view and a lower drag for piloting, making C919 a special one in appearance design. C919 also has super-critical backward sweep wings that are completely self-designed for the first time, ensuring high aerodynamic efficiency and smooth flying.
As the first aircraft applying extended range configuration in the industry, compared with other aircrafts of the same class with 27-kilopound engines and 28-kilopound engines, as well as ordinary C919 with 29-kilopound engines, Air China’s extended-range C919 is equipped with a more powerful and stable engine, offering a thrust of 30 kilopounds, while greater power will bring smoother flying and a wider world. In addition, C919 features a meticulously designed cabin layout, equipped with 8 business class seats and 150 economy class seats, “wider” in the cabin width and seat spacing. For example, the seat spacing in economy class is 30–31 inches, and 45 inches at emergency exit. The space between rows of seats is 2 inches at most larger than that of other aircrafts with a compact layout, providing a more comfortable experience compared to aircrafts of the same class. The whole cabin is decorated with Air China’s “Phoenix Dancing in the Clouds” interior design, which can be seen on seat fabrics, carpets, curtains, and cloud-patterned wallpaper. Ten different cabin lighting settings are used to simulate various cabin environments for different times of the day, such as sunrise, sunset, sleep and dining.
