CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing Rail Transit Line 2 has launched a breathtaking new themed train, “Encounter Chongqing: Explore Mountain City’s 8D Charm”. With beautiful imagery of the scenic landmarks along the line adorning the train’s interior and exterior, passengers can enjoy an immersive exploration of Chongqing’s charm.

From the ancient town of Mudong in Banan District to the Industrial Museum in Dadukou District, the majestic Egongyan Bridge in Jiulongpo, and the bustling landmarks like Liziba and Jiefangbei in Yuzhong District, the train’s exterior design encapsulates the essence of Chongqing’s most iconic sites.
Stepping inside the themed train, you will find magic continues. One of the most striking features is the “cracked ground" design on the floor. Passengers peering through the illusionary fissures are treated to mesmerizing depictions of popular nighttime destinations such as Hongyadong and Chaotianmen under a starlit sky. The photorealistic art, combined with naked-eye 3D display technology, creates an immersive experience that feels like a virtual tour of the city’s vibrant nightlife.
The interior walls echo the exterior’s design, showcasing the beauty of ancient towns, parks, and bridges along Line 2.
This themed train utilizes the latest 8-car configuration on Line 2, incorporating features like "Magic Mirrors" and smart windows, offering passengers a tech-forward travel experience.
The Magic Mirrors, installed in the lead and tail cars, function as both a traditional mirror and an interactive touchscreen. These screens display real-time information, including station arrival details, route maps, and 3D representations of station platforms. Even more impressively, cameras installed at the front of the train provide passengers with a thrilling "driver’s eye view" of the journey ahead.

Through smart windows, passengers can access a wealth of information, including the train’s current position, upcoming stations, estimated arrival times, 3D platform views, nearby dining options, and local tourist attractions.
Above each train door, dynamic electronic maps now include a passenger density indicator. Using real-time passenger data, the map displays whether each car is “vacant”, “moderately full”, or “crowded”, enabling passengers to make informed choices about where to board for the most comfortable experience.
According to the Chongqing Rail Transit Group, the themed train aims to seamlessly integrate cutting-edge technology with cultural storytelling. By embedding cultural symbols into the train’s design, they hope to enhance passenger satisfaction while promoting the city’s unique identity to both residents and visitors.
