CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing’s rail transit stations now enjoy full 5G network coverage, ensuring smoother and faster internet access for passengers, according to Chongqing Rail Transit Group.
Chongqing Rail Transit Group and key telecommunications providers, including Chongqing Mobile, Chongqing Unicom, Chongqing Telecom, and the Chongqing Branch of China Tower, have made joint efforts to accelerate the rollout and implementation of 5G infrastructure across the CRT network.
Back in 2018, when 5G technology was not yet commercially available, Chongqing Rail Transit Group took a forward-thinking approach, incorporating provisions for 5G upgrades into the construction of new rail transit lines. By 2019, as several metro projects progressed, the group collaborated with telecom providers to strategically plan for 5G deployment. From building experimental 5G networks to rolling out pilot lines, the initiative gradually gained momentum.
Today, over 2,600 5G base stations have been installed across the CRT network, spanning 523 kilometers. The network's download speeds have surged from an average of 50.03 Mbps to a staggering 700 Mbps, revolutionizing connectivity for passengers.
Metro commuters can now enjoy the seamless experience of high-speed 5G at stations throughout the network. For instance, downloading a 6GB movie takes a mere 10 seconds!
Meanwhile, 5G network construction is advancing simultaneously with the development of new rail transit lines. CRT has fully embraced the 5G era, ensuring streamlined rail transit operations and a faster, more convenient travel experience for passengers. (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
