CHONGQING (CQNEWS) – On November 28, the monorail vehicles of passenger rapid transit system for Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport rolled off the production line at Chongqing Zhongche Changke Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. in Liangjiang New Area, marking the world's first customized straddle-type monorail solution for an airport transit system.

This monorail passenger rapid transit system will operate between Terminal T3A and Terminal T3B of Jiangbei International Airport, keeping the total travel time within 150 seconds. Passengers get on or off board inside the terminals, while the monorail line will pass beneath the airport apron.

It is learned that the passenger rapid transit system is an unmanned, automated, three-dimensional and cross mass transportation system typically used for low-capacity railway transport in confined areas. The airport passenger rapid transit system facilitates quick movement for travelers carrying luggage between different terminals. In 2022, Chongqing Zhongche Changke Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd. began innovating and customizing straddle-type monorail vehicles based on the needs of Chongqing Airport Group.

On site, reporter found the brand-new vehicles adorned with large red flowers, running smoothly. Inside the carriages, in consideration of travelers with heavy luggage and short intervals for boarding and unloading, the vehicles are equipped with 9 fixed seats and 2 foldable seats, along with 3 doors on each side with an effective opening width of 1.4 meters. The central space of the carriage is spacious and transparent, making it convenient for passengers to quickly enter and exit and place their luggage.

It is worth noting that the vehicles are supported by Chongqing's complete monorail industry chain, incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as unmanned operation, flight linkage, and energy storage power supply into the airport transit system.

For example, the vehicles are equipped with an unmanned driving system featuring the highest level of automation (GOA4), along with OLED smart windows, LED intelligent lighting, intelligent passenger counting, and intelligent air conditioning. Among these, the OLED smart windows can display information such as the date, time, and weather, significantly improving the travel experience for passengers.

Song Yongxue, deputy general manager of the electromechanical and weak electricity department of the Chongqing Airport Expansion Command, stated that the roll-off of this vehicles marks another key milestone in the construction of the passenger rapid transit system at Jiangbei International Airport, signifying that the system is about to enter the testing stage for the main line high-speed trains, thereby laying a foundation for the timely operation of the passenger rapid transit system.

Currently, the passenger rapid transit system has achieved full track and electrical connection, and the basic installation of wind, water, electricity and weak electricity equipment has been completed. Preparations for closing the track area are underway.
