CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Starting on November 27, two additional trains are added to the morning rush-hour schedule on Chongqing Rail Transit (CRT) Line 5 so as to increase capacity and make commuting more convenient for passengers, announced Chongqing City Transportation Development & Investment Group.
Currently, during the morning rush, Line 5 operates 36 trains, with an average interval of 5 minutes between departures. With the addition of two more trains, the departure interval is reduced to 4 minutes and 30 seconds, enhancing capacity by 16%. This change aims to alleviate congestion and reduce waiting times for passengers traveling through the busiest segments of the line.
In addition to the increase in train frequency, measures such as optimizing operation times and improving travel speed have raised the line's overall capacity on weekdays from 620,500 to 646,500 passengers per day.
Line 5 also introduces new routes, running between Tiaodeng and Yuegangbeilu, and between Tiaodeng and Expo Garden Center. During the morning peak hours, the departure intervals will be further optimized, with trains on the Expo Garden Center – Yuegangbeilu stretch departing at uneven intervals, shortening the average waiting time by approximately 2 minutes. This adjustment will make the travel experience more comfortable for passengers.
Chongqing Rail Transit Group emphasized that it will continue to monitor passenger flow and make further optimizations to improve service, aiming to offer a smoother, more efficient, and enjoyable travel experience for commuters. (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
