CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- A box of Huaniu apples from Tianshui, Gansu Province, was successfully delivered to Ms. Mu, a mother living in Yuzhong, Chongqing on the morning of November 19, which marked China’s 150 billionth express delivery of the year. "I’m so happy to be the lucky recipient. The express service is speedy now," said Ms. Mou, visibly excited after receiving her package.
Chen Denghua, the Director of the Chongqing Municipal Postal Administration, explained that this achievement reflects more than just a number. It symbolizes the integral role the postal and express delivery sector plays in serving the real economy and helping to build a unified national market. Moreover, it reflects the continuous improvement in service quality and delivery efficiency, driven by the development of a three-tier logistics system that spans counties, townships, and villages. The fact that this milestone package arrived in Chongqing showcases the progress of the postal and express delivery industries in central and western China and the vitality and growth potential of these regions.
In recent years, the postal and express delivery sector in Chongqing has focused on supporting the development of the national strategic hinterland. Given the city’s unique geography characterized by large urban areas, expansive rural regions, rugged mountain ranges, and extensive reservoir zones, Chongqing has actively improved its industry infrastructure. Besides, the city has accelerated its efforts to develop an international postal and express delivery hub in the western region, actively created the 'Postal Express' brand with Chongqing’s unique identity to support rural revitalization, and successfully piloted the use of drones and unmanned vehicles, adding new technological momentum to the industry. From January to October of this year, the volume of express deliveries in Chongqing increased by 36.1% compared to last year, making it the 8th largest express delivery market in the country.
This year marks the 15th time the postal and express delivery sector has faced the challenges of the peak delivery season. While this period brings a sharp rise in business volume, it also poses significant challenges for industry oversight and regulatory systems. Chen Denghua highlighted that, during this peak season, the Chongqing Municipal Postal Administration has adhered to Party leadership, bringing together efforts to tackle challenges. The administration has strengthened analysis and judgment to prevent risks, implemented comprehensive measures to improve service quality and efficiency, and ensured smooth, safe, and stable operations for customers.
