China Women's Flying Disc Open Tournament 2024 kicks off in Chongqing

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On November 9, 2024, the China Women's Flying Disc Open Tournament kicked off at the Chongqing Olympic Sports Center. Nearly 400 female flying disc players from 16 women's teams from across the country gathered here, presenting their wonderful performance in the two days of intense competition.

The China Women's Flying Disc Open Tournament is the first national-level professional women's flying disc tournament in China, dedicated to promoting the popularity and development of flying disc sports, and enhancing the competitive level of women players in flying disc sports, and it has been popular since the first event was successfully held in 2023.
This year's event is sponsored by the Chinese Leisure Sports Administration Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Sports, and the People's Government of Chongqing, Jiulongpo District, organized by the Chinese Flying Disc Administration Committee, the Chongqing Olympic Sports Center, and the Chongqing Jiulongpo Commission of Culture and Tourism Development (Sports Bureau). This is the second year that the event has been held in Chongqing.
In order to enhance the interactivity and overall experience of the event, the China Women's Flying Disc Open Tournament has held a series of special interactive welfare interactive activities. Participants can enjoy services such as “body painting” and “braiding,” and also take part in interactive games like “flying disc Sudoku” and “flying disc Golf,” with opportunities to win exquisite prizes. Additionally, they also can go to “Sisters’ Exchange Fair” where participants can trade jerseys, flying discs, and other memorabilia to promote friendship.

Thanks to the popularity of the first edition of the competition, this year’s competition has attracted widespread attention since its announcement. Within just one week of opening registration, the slots were quickly filled, bringing together 16 high-level women’s flying disc teams from cities including Guangzhou, Chengdu, Tianjin, Changsha, Xi’an, and Haikou.
Among the local teams from Chongqing, two will be competing in Chongqing this year.
Wudu Maosa team achieved a fifth-place finish in the first tournament of 2023 and won the championship at this year’s Southwest University Championship League (SWUCL), showcasing their impressive strength. Key player Liu Chengyu was recently selected for the national training team and is expected to compete for the country at the World Games in Chengdu.
