Six teams compete in the finals of Chongqing’s second "Village Basketball Association"

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The finals of the 2nd “Beautiful and Harmonious Villages” Basketball Game (Cun A) & the celebration of the 2024 Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival ended at the Cultural Industry Demonstration Park in Dongyang Sub-district, Beibei District on November 7. After four days of fierce competition among six participating teams, the Beibei Doufuyu Team emerged victorious, claiming the top prize.
Guided by the Chongqing Municipal Agriculture and Rural Affairs Commission, the Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau, the CPC Beibei Committee, and the Beibei People’s Government, this year's tournament was organized by the Chongqing Farmers Sports Association, the Chongqing Agricultural Broadcasting and Television School, the Beibei Agriculture and Rural Committee, the Beibei Sports Bureau, and the Beibei Culture and Tourism Commission with technical support from the Chongqing Basketball Association.
The tournament utilized a round-robin format, where six teams competed in 15 games. The Beibei Doufuyu Team emerged victorious, claiming the group’s top prize with an undefeated record. The Zhongxian Zhongcheng Team and Qijiang Shanyang Team shared the second prize, while the Wansheng Heishanhong Team, Tiansheng Yunyang Team, and Tongnan Ningmeng Team took home third place honors.
At the award ceremony, outstanding farmers from Beibei District presented prizes to the winning teams and individual players. Each winning team received a bountiful gift package of local specialties, such as millet from Jingguan Town, rice from Liuyin Town, and Jinyun Sweet Tea. Individual award recipients were delighted with treats such as sesame cakes and noodles.
"The down-to-earth prizes reflect our commitment to keeping the rural spirit alive in the CunBA events," said a representative from the Chongqing Municipal Agricultural and Rural Commission. This rural basketball tournament not only showcases the vibrant spirit of farmers in the new era but also highlights the evolving landscape of rural areas. It aims to foster a strong societal focus on building livable, industry-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing rural areas, thereby contributing to the overall advancement of rural revitalization.
