Two national artistic gymnastics championships concluded in Chongqing

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On October 23, Chongqing Three Gorges Bank Cup 2024 National Artistic Gymnastics Championship and 2024 National Youth Artistic Gymnastics Championship officially came to an end. The host team, Chongqing Team, performed well, securing a total of 10 gold, 9 silver, and 5 bronze medals across both major events.
These competitions marked the first top-tier artistic gymnastics events nationwide following Paris Olympics, with approximately 350 participants from 26 teams across the country, including 18 athletes from Chongqing.
On the final day of these competitions, four adult individual single item finals for Hoop, Ball, Clubs, and Ribbon, as well as two adult collective single item finals for 5 Hoops and 3 Ribbons 2 Balls, were held.
In the adult individual single item finals, Paris Olympic participant Wang Zilu from Shaanxi Team won all four first positions with scores of 36.20, 34.45, 33.40, and 32.90, respectively. Yang Yuting from Chongqing Team secured the second place in the individual hoop event and the third place in the individual clubs event.
During the adult team single item finals, Liaoning Jinmanxing Team won the gold medal in the 5 Hoops Event with a score of 32.45, followed by Chongqing Team with a score of 32.00 for the silver medal, and Jiangsu Team with a score of 31.80 for the bronze medal. In 3 Ribbons 2 Balls Event, Jiangsu Team won the gold medal with a score of 28.30, Liaoning Team secured the silver medal with a score of 26.60, and Chongqing Team narrowly missed second place, ranking third with 0.1 point difference.
The audience at the venue included many local Chongqing citizens who came to cheer on the competitors, filling the venue with shouts “Let’s go!” and “Go”.
“Competing in our own backyard is an incredible experience. The cheers from everyone really helped us,” said Tao Jingyi, a collective event athlete from Chongqing Team.
