CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On October 23, the 11th Chongqing Youth Film Festival co-sponsored by Chongqing Federation of Literary and Art Circles, People's Government of Chongqing Shapingba District and Sichuan International Studies University kicked off in Chongqing. From today until October 27, over 50 films will be screened for the audience.

According to Ding Zhong, co-sponsor of the Chongqing Youth Film Festival, this year’s festival features 12 themed sections and 35 screenings, with a total of over 50 exceptional films being screened, offering a breathtaking journey through the art of cinema to the public.

The screening unit represents the core of the festival. The opening film this year is The Lost Daughter, a drama produced by Liu Fan and co-directed by Zang Lianrong and Xu Ruogu. The film tells the story of a mother searching for her lost daughter, showcasing the film team's deep concern for social issues and their diverse reflections. At the opening ceremony, the filmmakers of The Lost Daughter shared details and stories from the production process with fans.

The closing film, Special You, is a documentary produced by Zuo Yue and directed by Weng Yu. The film focuses on three children with autism and their families, delivering a message of humanistic care through its lens, prompting audience concern and reflection.

"This year's opening and closing films are both locally produced, demonstrating the vitality and creativity of Chongqing's film industry," said Ding Zhong.

Additionally, the festival has selected four outstanding films from Chengdu and Chongqing, delving into the regions' historical roots, cultural spirit, and urban landscape, allowing the audience to experience the beauty of the "Impression on Bashu"; nationally, new talents and works are emerging, with the "New Vision" section screening three sincere works by young directors. In the "Essence from Latin American" section, seven outstanding films from Colombia, Cuba, Peru, Venezuela, and Salvador have been carefully selected.

In addition to the film screenings, the festival has organized four themed activities: a filmmaker salon, a public film lecture, a screening activity for film fans, and an accessible film screening. All activities can be reserved through the official mini-program of the Chongqing Youth Film Festival and are free to the public.

The Chongqing Youth Film Festival has been held for 11 years, providing young directors and filmmakers with opportunities to showcase their talents and exchange ideas, while witnessing the growth and rise of countless young filmmakers. Zou Yu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Sichuan International Studies University, said that film is an important part of literary and artistic creation, and he hoped the festival will continue to support emerging filmmakers and deepen international communication, contributing to the global dissemination of Chinese cinema.
