CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On the morning of October 21, Changan Auto’s Digital Intelligent Factory was officially unveiled and licensed. The factory is the new energy vehicle manufacturing base of Changan Auto with the largest investment, the highest level of intelligence and the most advanced process equipment. It is also the world’s largest 5G car factory, utilizing 44 industry-leading manufacturing technologies, and is expected to evolve into a “dark factory” with 100% unmanned operation of key parts in the future.

Located in Yubei Innovation Economic Corridor (Frontier Science and Technology City), the factory has a total investment of 10 billion yuan, covers an area of about 1,159 mu, and has a total construction area of 410,000 square meters. It is designed to produce 280,000 vehicles per year, mainly focusing on products such as Avatr 07, DEEPAL S05, and Qiyuan E07.

One of the factory’s biggest highlights is the adoption of the latest 5G technology and the latest industrial Internet of Things technology, using the 5G end-to-end characteristics on a large scale to connect production equipment, personnel, materials, and process data. The factory has 4 5G macro stations, 329 5G micro stations, connecting 5 major categories and 25 subcategories with 103 5G+ scenarios, achieving a network of more than 12,000 devices, with a collection efficiency of 1 million points per second.

In addition, Changan relies on the digital transformation methodology provided by Huawei, based on the advanced architecture of “one cloud, one network and one platform” to ensure the implementation of the project. China Unicom provides the latest 5G technology to assist the overall C2M architecture and business implementation, making the factory the largest and highest-performing 5G-connected factory in the global automotive industry. In response, Huawei has specifically certified the factory as the “first Huawei & Changan Smart Factory Solution Global Benchmark”, and China Unicom has also certified it as the “China Unicom & Changan Auto 5G Future Manufacturing Benchmark”.

The reporter on the scene learned that the factory has more than 800 intelligent devices, more than 1,400 robots, more than 650 intelligent AGVs, and more than 200 fully automated workstations. The key processes are 100% automated, and a car can roll off the line every 60 seconds.

In addition to its strong manufacturing capabilities, the factory is also a green factory. It has built a distributed photovoltaic power generation system with an installed capacity of 36 megawatts and an area of 260,000 square meters. It is estimated that its annual power generation will reach 26 million kilowatt-hours, equivalent to 19% of the total power consumption of the factory, which can reduce carbon emissions by about 24,000 tons per year.
