CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On October 20, the 2024 Three Gorges Cycling Race wrapped up successfully in Wanzhou District, Chongqing. This event has set a new benchmark for the integration of sports, culture, and tourism, becoming a powerful catalyst in Chongqing's efforts to establish itself as a leading sports city.

Co-hosted by the Chongqing Sports Bureau, and the governments of Wanzhou District, Yunyang County, and Wushan County, the event showcased an innovative blend of outdoor adventure and tourism, highlighting Chongqing’s push to create a prime destination for sports enthusiasts.

In recent years, Chongqing has been pioneering the combination of sports and tourism to craft unique experiences for visitors. The Three Gorges Cycling Race took this concept to new heights by blending the thrill of cycling with a cruise ship adventure. While racing on their “small wheels” in a thrilling competition, riders experienced the stunning beauty of the Three Gorges from the comfort of cruise ships, where their meals, accommodations, and transportation were all arranged.

The competition spanned three days, with cyclists stopping at Wushan, Yunyang, and Wanzhou stations. The total distance covered was 294.8 kilometers, with a dedicated cycling distance of 140.8 kilometers.
