CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On the evening of October 18, the Yangtze No.3 cruise ship, set to depart from Chongqing's Chaotianmen Wharf 17, welcomed the one-millionth tourist of the year for the Yangtze Three Gorges Tour.

The milestone visitor, a Chinese-American tourist, expressed her excitement at experiencing the Yangtze River cruise for the first time. "I never imagined I'd be so lucky to be the one-millionth tourist in 2024," she said.

To mark the occasion, a special welcome ceremony for the one-millionth passenger was held aboard the Yangtze No.3 cruise ship, witnessed by staff from the Chongqing Shipping Exchange Cruise Center. The ship's captain presented the guest with a voucher for a 2025 Changhang cruise and a deluxe Changhang cultural tourism gift package.

According to data from the Chongqing Shipping Exchange Cruise Center, from January to September this year, the Yangtze Three Gorges cruise ships completed 4,123 departures, representing 101.13% of the same period in 2023.

Chongqing Changjiang Shipping Corporation shared an optimistic outlook for the Yangtze Three Gorges Tour market, highlighting continuous upgrades to the infrastructure and amenities of their ships.

For instance, the Yangtze No.3 cruise ship stands out as a high-end luxury cruise ship equipped with electric propulsion technology to reduce noise and vibration. It also boasts a three-deck panoramic viewing platform, offering a unique perspective on the scenic beauty of the river. Additionally, it is the first inland cruise in China to earn the Green Ship - 3 and Energy Efficiency Design - 3 certifications from the China Classification Society (CCS) and has been recognized as a pilot ship for boutique cultural tourism routes by the Ministry of Transport.
