CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing launched an exciting new addition to its Three Gorges cruise offerings with the maiden voyage of the “Century Jiangshan Rushi” on October 13. The vessel departs from Baotaping Wharf in Fengjie and sails to Maoping Port in Yichang, providing tourists with a one-day journey through the most breathtaking scenic spots of the Three Gorges on the Yangtze River. In just around seven hours, passengers can experience the essence of this legendary river route, capturing the allure of "returning from a thousand miles in a single day."
The Yangtze River Three Gorges cruise has long been a shining highlight of Chongqing’s cultural and tourism offerings. Most cruise routes from Chongqing to Yichang used to require an overnight stay.
The Century Jiangshan Rushi, however, is designed to offer a condensed yet rich experience, covering the key sights in a one-day excursion. The cruise follows a route from Fengjie in Chongqing to Maoping in Yichang, passing through the iconic Qutang Gorge, Wuxia Gorge, and Xiling Gorge, before arriving at Zigui. The entire one-way trip takes about seven hours.
"This new cruise route alternates departures between Fengjie in Chongqing and Maoping in Yichang, Hubei, allowing tourists to choose their starting point based on convenience," explained Lin Hai, Marketing Director of Century Cruises. He highlighted that this one-day cruise offers a high-end sightseeing experience, filling the gap for short-duration yet premium river tours. The journey showcases the most iconic and scenic parts of the Three Gorges, giving passengers a concentrated taste of its beauty and cultural richness.
The Century Jiangshan Rushi sets itself apart from other Yangtze River cruise ships in several ways. As the first electrically powered sightseeing cruise on the Yangtze River, the ship spans 100 meters in length, 15.8 meters in width, and 4.35 meters in depth. It features five decks and can accommodate up to 650 passengers.
Unlike traditional river cruises, there are no overnight cabins, freeing up more public space for passengers to enjoy the trip. One of the ship’s standout features is its design, which maximizes the connection between passengers and the natural surroundings. The exterior walls of the passenger areas are constructed from low-emissivity coated glass, forming a 360-degree glass curtain wall that offers stunning panoramic views. This design element enhances the transparency and brightness of the interior, allowing passengers to immerse themselves in the dramatic landscapes of the canyons and river.
In addition to the scenic wonders, the cruise offers a cultural immersion with performances throughout the journey. Tourists can enjoy musical performances, dances, situational dramas, and poetry recitations, all celebrating the rich cultural and poetic heritage of the Three Gorges region.
