Chongqing culture and tourism becomes “household name” again during the National Day holiday

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Rail transit delayed closing, and “the world’s largest footbridge” went viral again... Chongqing culture and tourism “boomed” again! On October 7, the Municipal Culture and Tourism Development Commission released the data showing that during the National Day holiday, Chongqing received a total of 22,683,500 domestic tourists, with a year-on-year growth rate of 14.1%; and tourists spent 15,402,000,000 yuan, with a year-on-year growth rate of 15.8%.

During the National Day holiday, Chongqing Municipality, with the theme of “Celebrating the National Day and Touring the Magnificent Chongqing”, launched more than 750 cultural and tourism activities, more than 100 fall tourism routes, and more than 150 cultural and tourism measures for the benefit of the people, greatly enriching the supply of cultural and tourism products, and releasing the vitality of consumption.

For example, Dazu Rock Carvings Scenic Area greatly enhanced the sense of experience, participation and satisfaction of tourists by optimizing tour routes, cosplay Wukong parade photo, etc.; Shapingba District held a cloud concert hall, “New Tide - New Youth” concert and other types of activities, attracting a large number of tourists for cultural tours; Fuling Mexin Wine Town launched a series of affordable rural tourism packages including Country Walk, and fall outing to make the “nostalgia and rural charm” stronger; and Wansheng Dream Ordovician (Banliao Lake) Scenic Area held a National Day Fireworks Carnival, attracting a large number of tourists to hit the card.

According to statistics, as of 18:00 on October 7, 130 tourist attractions of Chongqing included in the monitoring statistics received a total of 8,461,200 tourists, with a growth rate of 13.1% on a comparable basis. Among them, Hongyadong received 1,031,000 tourists, Ciqikou Ancient Town received 865,000 tourists, Mexin Wine Town received 879,000 tourists, and Wulong Karst Tourist Area received 557,000 tourists.

It is worth mentioning that during the National Day holiday, Chongqing also launched the inbound tourism products themed on “Overseas Chinese Welcoming the National Day – Visiting Chongqing”, with an inbound overnight tourists year-on-year growth rate of 140.4%.

Culture is the soul, and tourism is the carrier. During the National Day holiday, 31 local theaters performed 430 times, receiving a total of 123,000 tourists; 16 local public art museums launched 23 thematic exhibitions, receiving a total of 74,000 tourists. Among them, Chongqing organized the “Ode to the Motherland” to Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China and “Music in Yuzhong” National Day Concert, driving the amount of tourists to the People’s Great Hall of Chongqing to increase by 302.24% on a year-on-year basis; Chongqing Acrobatic Art Troupe, and Chongqing Opera House jointly launched the symphonic acrobatics, “Trendy Live House”, to provide tourists with a refreshing immersive audio-visual feast; a large-scale original ballet, a large-scale red stage drama, the a modern drama and other red plays during the National Day holiday continued to be popular among audiences and visitors.

Totally 42 local public libraries and 41 cultural centers were opened free of charge, attracting 740,300 visitor-times. Chongqing carried out a total of 620 mass cultural activities, attracting a total of 896,300 participants.

The local major museums and memorial halls in Chongqing planned and launched 79 exhibitions and 113 activities, including cultural relics, revolutions, popular science and art, etc., and received a total of 1,707,900 tourists, with a year-on-year growth rate of 21.44%; and Chongqing carried out 82 traditional cultural experience demonstrations and exhibitions, attracting nearly 500,000 tourists, with a year-on-year growth rate of 5%.

Ctrip, Tongcheng Travel, Fliggy and many other online travel service platforms released the “10.1” tourism inventory report showing that many indicators of Chongqing culture and tourism ranked among the top ten in the country.

According to Ctrip statistics, Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Chongqing, Xi’an, Shenzhen and Wuhan were the top ten tourist destinations in China; according Tongcheng Travel statistics, “Chongqing-Shenzhen” and “Shenzhen-Chongqing” were respectively the first and second place of the ten popular domestic routes during the National Day holiday, while Chongqing ranked fifth on the list of “Popular Hotel Booking Cities”; and according to Fliggy statistics, Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Nanjing and Xi’an were the top ten cities during the National Day holiday with the volume of travel orders.
