CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Can you imagine an ocean coming to life in the city's heart? In Chongqing's bustling Guanyinqiao Business District, all it takes is a glance upward to see an astonishing sight on the 3788 "Light of Asia" landmark giant screen. Towering waves crash with immense force, and sprays of water seem to burst beyond the limits of the screen, immersing viewers in the vast, untamed ocean right from the city center.

Recently, operator of the 3788 "Light of Asia" screen partnered with renowned Swiss video artist and immersive experience creator Roberto Vitalini to debut Ocean 88, a 3D digital art blockbuster designed to wow the citizens and tourists of Chongqing as a special tribute to the National Day.

Created by Roberto Vitalin using AI-generated art, Ocean 88 was custom-designed in a naked-eye 3D format specifically for the 3788 giant screen. The intense, roiling waves in this piece represent the unpredictable nature of human emotions. These layered waves blur the line between reality and imagination, evoking the fluidity of life’s experiences and the sense of losing control that often accompanies them.

Vitalini is a Swiss video artist who primarily researches social imaging, video art, and interactive art. Famous for his large-scale immersive installations, he shared his hopes for the piece: “I want Ocean 88 to deeply resonate with the Chinese audience, inspiring emotions and reflections that transcend cultural barriers.”

According to the screen’s operator, Ocean 88 not only adds a touch of grandeur and festive atmosphere to the National Day celebrations but also enhances the artistic and technological charm of Chongqing. This awe-inspiring display will run through the beginning of next year, inviting citizens and tourists to visit Guanyinqiao and experience the cutting-edge allure of digital art.
