CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Upon entering the bustling operational site at Chongqing Railway Port, we find rows of cars standing neatly parked. Nearby, beneath the towering gantry cranes, containers are stacked in perfect order as transfer trucks shuttle back and forth, creating a scene of lively activity. Just a short distance away, at the New Land-Sea Corridor Chongqing Dry Port, the cranes are in constant motion, making for an equally busy and organized setting.

On September 23, the 2024 High-Quality Development Research Tour, featuring a special Chongqing-themed interview series, visited Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park. The event aimed to highlight the significant achievements and future aspirations of the park, with the mantra, "The corridor powers logistics, logistics fuels trade, and trade sparks industrial growth."

Chongqing Railway Port and the Chongqing Dry Port of the New Land-Sea Corridor are integral parts of Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park. The railway port has developed several key industry chains, including sectors like automotive, pharmaceuticals, cold chain logistics, cross-border e-commerce (international mail), and bulk commodities. By the end of 2023, the port had processed nearly 40,000 imported vehicles, ranking first among inland regions in terms of volume and variety of brands.

The Chongqing Dry Port of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor is a flagship project linking land transportation from the New Western Land-Sea Corridor to maritime networks. With a designed annual throughput of 300,000 TEUs, the dry port houses the corridor’s operation center, an international container allocation hub, a cold chain distribution center for imports and exports, and a general cargo dispatch center. It offers seven key services, including international container storage and transfers and cold chain storage and processing for imports and exports.

Duan Bensheng, Deputy General Manager of New Land-Sea Corridor Operation, explained that products from ASEAN countries, such as agricultural goods and fruits, can arrive at the Chongqing Dry Port within a week via the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, and soon after, reach consumers’ tables.

In addition, a wide array of local goods, such as Zhongxian’s citrus, Tongnan’s lemons, Tongliang’s radishes, onions from the northwest, and tomato paste from Xinjiang, are gathered here. From Chongqing, these products can be shipped to over 500 ports in 124 countries and regions across six continents via the New Land-Sea Corridor.

"A decade ago, it was unimaginable that Chongqing, located deep inland, could develop such a sophisticated logistics network," remarked Fang Linlin, Deputy Director of the International Department of Science and Technology Daily, during her visit.

Today, Chongqing International Logistics Hub Park operates a modern logistics system built on the model of "Corridor + Hub + Network." The park has launched 62 freight train routes, including the Western Land-Sea New Corridor, China Railway Express, Chongqing-Manzhouli-Russia, and Chongqing-Ningbo international trains. These lines connect nearly 110 cities across 40 countries by land and 523 ports in 124 countries by sea. In the first half of this year alone, these services completed 2,596 train trips, transporting 186,000 TEUs with a cargo value of 50.1 billion yuan, topping the city's logistics rankings in all three indicators. Additionally, new routes to Istanbul, Turkey, and Barcelona, Spain, have been successfully launched, and a new overseas warehouse has been established. (Translated by Yuki, Fathom Language Limited)
