CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- With the countdown to the National Day "golden week" underway, a peak in travel is expected soon. On September 19, Fliggy released its 2024 National Day Holiday Travel Indicator. The report shows that long-distance travel has become the main option for holiday bookings, with outbound travel seeing notable growth. The number of bookings for outbound flight tickets and hotels has significantly surpassed that during the same period last year.
Train tickets for the first day of the holiday were made available for sale on September 17, with ticket of some popular routes sold out in seconds. According to data from Fliggy, up to now, routes such as Shenzhen-Guangzhou, Chengdu-Chongqing, Shanghai-Hangzhou, Shanghai-Wuhan, and Shenzhen-Wuhan are among the most popular routes for train travel during the National Day holiday.
With a long holiday and favorable weather, consumers are more willing to travel to farther destinations this National Day holiday. According to data from Fliggy, while bookings for popular destinations like Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, and Chongqing remain in high demand, places like Wulong in Chongqing, Nujiang in Yunnan, Meishan in Sichuan, Heihe in Heilongjiang, Shuozhou in Shanxi, and Tumushuke in Xinjiang are leading in the growth of bookings. These destinations are becoming increasingly attractive to tourists due to their "beautiful scenery and low prices."
For outbound travel, destinations like Japan, Thailand, South Korea, and Malaysia are currently popular on Fliggy for trips during the National Day holiday; meanwhile, destinations with the fastest-growing booking volumes include Chile, Croatia, Belgium, Hungary, Czech Republic, Finland, Norway, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, and Sri Lanka.
In addition to farther destinations and unique experiences, quality and variety have also become key factors for consumers this National Day holiday. Fliggy data shows that despite this year's National Day holiday being one day shorter than last year's Mid-Autumn and National Day holiday, the average spending per capita increased by about 6% compared to that of last year. Cultural and museum tours, Hanfu photo-shooting tour in which tourists can appreciate the beauty of traditional culture, and activities that combine sports with tourism, like forest hiking, sea fishing, and sailing, continue to be highly popular.
Recently, with the Three Gorges Reservoir beginning its water storage, the oasis along the riverbank at Mexin Wine Town by the Yangtze River has transformed into a wetland where egrets and cattle rest and play in the water. In the autumn and winter, thin layers of mist often rise over the river in the early morning or evening. These misty scenes drape the river like a veil, giving the wetland a magical, otherworldly appearance, as if it were a paradise on earth.
Such stunning scenery has attracted many tourists to come during the National Day holiday to experience the beauty of nature. Mexin Wine Town is planning to build a batch of riverside water-friendly homestays and scenic viewing platforms by leveraging its riverside landscape. Additionally, Linshi Street, focusing on its waterside features, continuously planning to build waterside spaces in the ancient town and fitness greenways along both banks of the Lixiang Stream, a primary tributary of the Yangtze River, to construct a 3D town along the Yangtze River.
