CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- To expand the scope and depth of the "night view" landmark of Chongqing, and further promote the progress made with landscape lighting in the night-time economy, the Chongqing Municipal Urban Administration Bureau has issued a announcement regarding the Special Plan for Urban Landscape Lighting in the Central Urban Areas of Chongqing (2022-2035) recently. According to the announcement, all landscape lighting fixtures in the core areas of the "two rivers and four banks" will be subject to planning and control, to enhance the overall impact of landscape lighting in the core area and gradually improve the quality of lighting across the central urban areas.
The planning of the landscape lighting in the core area of the "two rivers and four banks" covers the Chaotianmen-Jiefangbei area, Jiangbeizui area, and Danzishi-Longmenhao-Shibanpo Yangtze River Bridge area, which encompass the intersection of the Yangtze River and Jialing River, covering a total area of 16.2 square kilometers, with about 10 square kilometers of land area, and forming a 50-square-kilometer overall study area with the surrounding regions.
The overall image of the night view in the core area of the "two rivers and four banks" is defined as a window of urban landscape lighting art, a landmark of urban night view, and core engine that drives the night-time economy. In particular, the Chaotianmen-Jiefangbei area is positioned as a brilliant and prosperous metropolis; the Jiangbeizui area is defined as the pearl of Bayu, a rhythmic stage; and the Danzishi-Longmenhao-Shibanpo Yangtze River Bridge area is characterized as a vibrant, colorful, light and shadow living room. The specific planning is as follows:
Enhance dynamic lighting to highlight various “boundary lines”
We will strengthen the dynamic lighting in the Chaotianmen-Jiefangbei area, and set projection lights above the permanent waterline in the water fluctuation zone; improve the lighting along Changbin Road and Jiabin Road, and upgrade the lighting design of riverside building’s skylines, riverside bulkhead lines and riverside building facades in the Yuzhong Peninsula to highlight various “boundary lines”; decorate the cable-way and sightseeing cruises with special dynamic or colorful lighting to highlight focal night scenes, presenting the iconic night scenery effect of mountain city’s characteristic vehicles. At the same time, strengthen the quality control of cruise ship hull lighting, and review the displayed content.
Enhance features of iconic landscape lighting, including the Grand Theatre
Focus should be put on enhancing the landscape lighting of the Grand Theatre in the Jiangbeizui area to creating a distinctive landmark nightscape; projection lights and beam lights will be used to enhance the coordinated night view with Chaotianmen Square, while projection lights will be used in the water fluctuation zone and set above the permanent waterline; upgrades will also be made to the nightscape lighting of Huanghuayuan Bridge and Chaotianmen Bridge; broken lights will be replaced with new ones in dim areas along the riverbank on Beibin Road; the lighting techniques on the facades of riverside commercial buildings will be improved to coordinate with the overall nightscape of the Chaotianmen area.
Highlight the role of Changjiahui Square as the city reception hall
In the Danzishi-Longmenhao-Shibanpo Yangtze River Bridge area, Changjiahui Square will be developed as the city's reception hall, creating a vibrant and festive lighting atmosphere. Focus will be put on improving the night tour scenes in areas like Longmenhao Old Street and Danzishi Old Street; the landscape lighting effects of the Yangtze River Bridge will be upgraded, and the lighting of the Nanjimen Bridge will be enhanced to show the unique “one bridge, one scene” feature, and the charm of "bridge capital". The lighting of riverside flavor street on Nanbin Road will be maintained and the lighting on Nanbin Road will be enhanced, to be consistent with the lighting along Beibin Road and Changbin Road in the shape, brightness, color temperature; broken lights will be replaced with new ones in dim areas along the riverbank on Nanbin Road and projection lights will be used in the water fluctuation zone and set above the permanent waterline; the continuity and coordinated features of the skyline lighting on high-rise buildings along Nanbin Road will be further highlighted to enhance the layered and three-dimensional nightscape of the mountainous city.
