CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On September 11, we visited Shanglan Station in Changshou, where the newly constructed cable car viewing platform rose majestically above the cable car track, and workers were busy laying floor tiles and building pathways to complete the final touches.
From the platform, visitors were treated to panoramic views of the cable car gliding over Sandaoguai Ancient Street, the stunning Yangtze River, and Dinghui Temple.
The Changshou Cable Car, completed in 1964, boasts a vertical height of 110 meters and holds the title of the longest-running and steepest passenger cable car in China. It has since become a popular tourist attraction in Changshou. On August 21, 2023, the cable car service was temporarily suspended for maintenance.
Tan Ningchuan, the project manager overseeing the construction, shared that the viewing platform is part of the Binjiang Changshou Valley greenway project. Spanning approximately 300 square meters and built with a sturdy steel structure, the platform offers a perfect vantage point for sightseeing. Construction began on April 10 of this year, with the platform and ground finishing now complete. Final work, including railing installations and road construction, is currently underway.
