"Twin Cities" media exchange between Taiwan and Chongqing launches

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The media exchange event “Entering Chengdu and Chongqing to Witness Their Developments”, as part of the 16th Chongqing-Taiwan Week, officially launched in Chongqing on September 10. Nearly 30 participants, including renowned Taiwanese current affairs commentator Lai Yueqian, attended the event.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. The event aims to showcase the latest developments and achievements in the integrated growth of this economic hub, highlighting new opportunities for Cross-Strait Industrial Cooperation Zones in Sichuan and Chongqing. It also underscores the fresh momentum driving western China’s large-scale development and its new outlook in the era of reform and opening up.

Over the following five days, the visiting media delegation will tour Liangjiang New Area, Bishan District, and Yongchuan District in Chongqing, and Chengdu, Meishan, and Deyang in Sichuan Province, to gain in-depth insights into the latest economic, technological, and societal advancements in the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. Additionally, they will explore the rich cultural heritage of the Ba and Shu regions while experiencing the dynamic growth and untapped potential of both cities. The visit also aims to identify new opportunities for industrial collaboration between Taiwan and Chinese mainland.

Li Anjiang, Director of the Chongqing Branch of China News Service, emphasized in his speech that media exchange is crucial in fostering ties between both sides of the Taiwan Strait. He expressed that this event is not just a media interview but also a platform for communication and cooperation. Li hopes that media representatives from both sides will strengthen their interaction, explore innovative approaches to cross-strait news coverage, and deepen media collaboration across a broader range of fields.
