CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As mid-September arrives, many travelers have started to book their accommodation for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.

According to the data from Tujia Homestay, as of September 9, homestay bookings for Mid-Autumn Festival holiday on the platform increased by 40% compared to last week. Booking homestays for Mid-Autumn holiday is more cost-effective, with prices more than 20% lower than that during the National Day holiday. Notably, "Wukong" is expected to boost tourism in Shanxi Province, with Datong seeing the fastest week-on-week growth in homestay bookings for Mid-Autumn holiday, followed by Taiyuan, Jinzhong, and Xinzhou.

Reunion has always been the timeless theme of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Many people choose to spend the three-day holiday with their families, booking a homestay in nearby cities to celebrate the festival. The search popularity of single-family building and entire house rental on platform Tujia has jumped 2 times compared to last week, and homestay bookings in counties increased by 1.2 times on a week basis.

There are many ways to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival in a homestay. Some guests are planning to host a family feast at the homestay. “I won’t go out during the three-day Mid-Autumn holiday. I’m planning to rent a small courtyard to gather with family and admire the moon instead,” said Wang Xin from Chongqing.

To enhance the holiday atmosphere, some hosts has prepared telescopes for moon viewing, and traditional crafts for making moon cakes, rabbit lanterns, lacquered fans, etc. Some also offer Hanfu experiences for guests.

During the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the top 10 most popular cities on platform Tujia include Beijing, Qingdao, Suzhou, Chengdu, Dali, Chongqing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou.

"In the recently concluded summer vacation, the scenic spot received over 600,000 visits, with family tourists accounting for 70% of the total," said a relevant person in charge of Mexin Wine Town in Chongqing, adding that a series of unique vacation products launched during this period, such as Mexin colorful hotels and underground quadrangle courtyard homestays, successfully attracted a large number of visitors and boosted night markets run primarily by local villagers.
